A FORMER garage and petrol station near Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, is going to be developed into a gym after planning proposals were approved.
The site on Chesterfield Road North in Pleasley used to be home to Autocars of Mansfield and featured an MOT test centre, a car dealership and a petrol station.
The business closed several months ago and the 1,600m² property has been vacant ever since. However, it has found new purpose, as one Adam Thorpe, of Sheepwalk Lane in Ravenshead, made a successful application to Mansfield District Council to turn the site into a gym.
The gym will operate on a members-only basis and will create six jobs in the area – four full-time roles and two part-time. According to the proposal, this is ideal because Pleasley is an area with an increasing residential presence, so the gym will be a useful amenity for local homeowners.
The gym will have a full fitness suite, changing rooms and a car park with 38 standard spaces and two disabled bays. The planned opening times for 6am to 10pm, Monday to Friday.
