NGK plays host to WRC champs Ogier and Ingrassia at Autosport International Show

NGK Spark Plugs played host to reigning World Rally champions Sébastien Ogier and Julien Ingrassia at the Autosport International Show last week.

Ogier and co-driver Ingrassia, who took their fifth consecutive World Rally Championship (WRC) in 2017, were on hand at NGK’s stand to greet fans, take pictures and sign autographs.

The French duo landed on their feet in an unfamiliar car in 2017, joining the independent M-Sport Ford outfit following Volkswagen’s withdrawal from the sport. Ogier gelled well with the Fiesta WRC car during the season, took the championship, and is now testing for the upcoming 2018 season.

Talking about NGK’s contribution to the team in 2017, he said: ‘I know the NGK brand well and know they are one of the partners who helped make the car really reliable last season and they are working together with us again this season.’

As well as the champion pairing, fellow M-Sport Ford WRC driver Elfyn Evans also visited NGK at the show, while other guests included two prominent women of the sport, ‘Queen of the Bikers’ Maria Costello and racing driver Charlie Martin, highlighting NGK’s support of female competitors.

NGK Spark Plugs UK marketing manager Mark Hallam spoke highly of the M-Sport Ford racers, saying: ‘It was fantastic to be able to kick off day one of the show with the visit of Sébastien and Julien, and then to meet up with Elfyn the following day. They were great and posed for pictures with fans and signed autographs. Nothing was too much trouble for them. They even signed our stand!’

Hallam added: ‘Autosport International gives us the opportunity to meet up with a number of motorsport competitors who we support, such as Maria and Charlie, and also engage with enthusiasts of all forms of motorsport who follow the teams and drivers we support, and whose own vehicles are invariably fitted with our products.’
