DRAGON2000 has announced plans to hold free General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) events, which will aim to clarify what garages and workshops will have to do in relation to GDPR.
The GDPR Awareness events will take place at Dragon2000’s Northamptonshire offices from March, and will explain key points of the new regulations, and what they mean for garages and workshops.
Mark Kelland, commercial manager at Dragon2000, commented: ‘Despite the wealth of information and guidance on GDPR that is readily available from the ICO, many garages and workshops still either aren’t aware that these regulations apply to them, or have been acting on mis-information found elsewhere on the internet and social media.
‘We are hosting these free awareness days, so we can point garages and workshops in the right direction, by dispelling some of the myths and highlighting the key points that are relevant to them, to help them understand and meet their obligations.’
Kelland also revealed that Dragon2000 is in the process of releasing free updates to their software and website prior to the enforcement of GDPR in May, to make it easier for garages and workshops to demonstrate their compliance to the regulations.
GDPR will regulate the handling of personal data from a business’ customers, and ensure that companies keep only required information from them. The regulations come into effect on May 25, 2018.
