JLR opens first classic centre outside the UK

JAGUAR Land Rover has opened a new Classic Centre facility in Essen, Germany.

The opening of the centre, run by the Jaguar Land Rover Classic operation directly, marks the first time such a facility has come into being outside the UK.

The new 4,500 sq m location will provide sales and servicing of classic JLR products. Sales will be handled through the Works Legends programme, which sees specially selected examples of classic JLR products that have been restored and repaired by the firm themselves, sold on to collectors and enthusiasts.

Tim Hannig, JLR Classic’s director, said: ‘The opening of Classic Works in Coventry last year gave our team the opportunity to deliver world-class vehicle services to a rapidly-increasing number of enthusiasts.

‘As the most mature classic car market in Europe, Germany is the logical first step for the global expansion of Jaguar Land Rover Classic. This new site gives us an excellent platform to cater for the needs of classic Jaguar and Land Rover owners on the continent.’

As well as the new facility in Germany, a new Works Legends sales portal is also being launched, which allows a look at the cars currently for sale from JLR Classic. All cars sold through this portal and the JLR Classic Centres are put through a 125-point healthcheck and a manufacturer-backed 12-month warranty.
