Mark’s the brightest spark as salesman for NGK

IGNITION specialist NGK Spark Plugs has named Mark Peacock as its Salesman of the Year 2018.

The original equipment (OE) supplier of spark plugs, glow plugs, NTK lambda and other engine management sensors presented the award at its end-of-year conference held in Marbella.

It’s the first time the 48-year-old has won the title – an achievement he said had been aiming for since joining NGK in 2011.

‘It is brilliant to have been named Salesman of the Year. It is something I have been striving for since I joined the company. I remember when I came for my interview and saw the winners’ names printed on an honours board that I knew I wanted to win it one day.

‘I think I won the award this year because I was consistent each month on sales of all the company’s products – spark plugs, glow plugs, sensors and ignition coils. I work as part of a very good and experienced sales team, and to have pipped my colleagues to the title is fantastic.

‘I have a good relationship with my customers and would like to thank them and everyone at NGK for helping me win this.’

Marketing manager Mark Hallam said: ‘I am delighted that Mark has been named Salesman of the Year. He thoroughly deserved this award for his efforts over the past 12 months.

‘At NGK, we pride ourselves on having an experienced and conscientious sales team who work hard to provide our distributors with everything they need to supply a top-quality service to their garage customers, and for Mark to have come out on top is a great personal achievement.’

Before joining NGK, Peacock, whose sales area covers Shropshire, Worcestershire, Herefordshire, Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire plus south Wales, worked as a sales representative for automotive distributor FPS in Nottingham and Sheffield.

Married to Gayle and with two sons, Sam, 19, and Josh, 14, he is a keen sports fan and supports Birmingham City FC. He was also a talented cricketer when younger, representing Worcestershire as an opening batsman and leg spin bowler in all age groups until the age of 19.
